How the game works

Real clock rules, compressed into one drive.

1

Take over at 2:00

Own 25, four downs, three timeouts, 75 yards to the end zone. The clock is the defense that never blinks.

2

Call every play

Deep shots gain big and stop the clock when they land out of bounds. Runs are safe but burn 30+ seconds. Spikes trade a down for a stoppage.

3

Score, or explain it

Cross the line and claim your tier — Hall of Fame Drive, Clutch Drive or Photo Finish — with a share card sized for your story.

Why the two minute drill is football's best exam

Strip the helmet stickers off American football and the final two minutes of a half is a pure resource-management problem: 120 seconds, four downs per ten yards, three clock stoppages in your pocket. Every snap answers one question — does this play help the clock or hurt it? An incompletion costs six seconds. A catch in the middle of the field costs twenty-five. The sideline is worth a timeout. That's why coaches script the drill separately every week, and why fans know its mythology by name: The Drive, The Catch, the Montana-to-Taylor walk-off.

Clock rules that decide everything

The game runs the real clock logic. Incomplete pass: clock stops, six seconds gone. Completion out of bounds: clock stops. Completion inbounds: 15-25 seconds run off. Run play: 30-38 seconds. Spike: one down spent, clock stopped cold. Timeout: the next running-clock play stops instead. Master those six lines and you're already calling it like a coordinator.

Browser game, zero friction

No download, no account, no permissions — the simulator, the scoreboard and the share cards all run locally in your browser. It loads instantly on any device, from your phone on the couch to a school Chromebook between classes. One tab open and it's 2:00 somewhere.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the two minute drill game?

It's a free browser game that simulates American football's most dramatic situation: you take over at your own 25 yard line with 2:00 on the clock, four downs and three timeouts, and call every play — deep passes, quick screens, spikes and timeouts — trying to score a touchdown before time expires.

Is the two minute drill game free?

100% free, forever. No download, no sign-up, no app store. The site is supported by ads so the game stays free for everyone.

How does the clock work in the game?

Like the real thing. Incomplete passes and out-of-bounds plays stop the clock (about 6 seconds of dead time). Completions that stay inbounds keep it running (15-25 seconds). Run plays burn 30-38 seconds. Timeouts stop the clock for one later play.

When should I spike the ball?

Spike after an inbounds completion when the clock is bleeding and you have no timeouts left — it costs one down but stops the clock instantly. Never spike on first down out of panic.

Can I play on my phone?

Yes. The game is mobile-first and works on any device with a browser — phones, tablets, PCs and school Chromebooks.

Can I share my result?

Every drive ends with a downloadable share card showing your tier — Hall of Fame Drive, Clutch Drive, Photo Finish or Heartbreak — with yards gained and time left.
